Story Overview
The story resumes with Rin and his companions uncovering unsettling truths behind the Illuminati—a mysterious organization with plans to merge the realms of Assiah (the human world) and Gehenna (the demon world). The saga is named after the Shimane Prefecture, where a series of bizarre and supernatural events take place, tying into Mephisto’s secrets and the hidden history of the Okumura twins.
As the group is sent to investigate strange demonic occurrences, they face new enemies aligned with the Illuminati, including genetically engineered demons and twisted human experiments. Meanwhile, Yukio begins questioning his own origins and connection to Satan, leading to tension between him and Rin. Animation and Sound Design
Studio VOLN takes over the animation reins from A-1 Pictures, delivering a darker, more atmospheric tone that fits the arc perfectly. The use of shadows, glowing sigils, and haunting color palettes enhances the feeling of creeping dread.
The soundtrack composed by Kohta Yamamoto (joined by Hiroyuki Sawano) adds depth to emotional and battle sequences. The OP/ED themes—"Eye's Sentry" by UVERworld and "Shinri no Kagami, Tsurugi no Yo ni" by Mili—are both visually and musically impactful.
